Great information and well written article. I’ll be expanding variety after reading this, although the goal of 30 appears to be a strech or goal as you discuss! At least at first glance.
However, once I wrote a list, perhaps 30 is achievable as I’m getting close without intentionally trying.
So far this week I’ve consumed (this is above average):
1. Beets
2 Red Cabbage
3. Hemp seeds
4. Cacao
5. Flax
6. Spirulina
7. Basil seeds
8. MCT powder
9. Kale
10. Lettuce
11. Swiss Chard
12. Blueberries
13. Black Pepper
14. Cinnamon
15. Walnuts
16. Macadamias
17. Green Olives
18. Radishes
19. Green onion
20. Red onion
21. Baby Bella mushrooms
22. Tomato Sauce
23. Garlic
24. Wheat flour (organic crackers)
25. Avocado
26. Sorghum
27. Almonds
How about items like Olive and MCT oils? Can they be listed as well? Any feedback is very much appreciated.
Thankyou for appreciating...great to hear that you're already incorporating such a wide variety of plant foods - sometimes we’re closer to 30 than we realize! Writing it down really puts things into perspective. As for olive oil and MCT oil, while they do come from plants, they don’t contain the same fiber and phytonutrients as whole plant foods. The focus of the 30-plant goal is on whole foods that feed your gut microbes, so oils wouldn’t typically count in the same way. However, they do offer other health benefits, so they’re still valuable additions to your diet! Nevertheless, you're doing great work!
This is a great reminder, Mick. I tried keto once, and, without my fruits and veggies, I became lethargic and depressed. However, one caveat I was forced to learn when I developed kidney stones consequent to untreated hyperparathyroidism was the need to consider oxalate levels in foods. Beets and spinach, for example, should be limited by those susceptible to kidney stones. And here I was loading my blender each morning with spinach and organic beet powder! Oops.
I do not eat fiber or plants. You shouldn’t either. This is hard to believe, but it’s true. Fiber and carbohydrates are not necessary for human health. Fat and meat are necessary.
Read online for free. The Fiber Menace. Read this especially if you suffer from IBS, IBD or any stomach issues.
Also, research “plants are trying to kill you”
We’ve been lied to.
Carnivore diet cured my arthritis, my IBS, and my brain fog.
